Position SummaryThe primary responsibility of the Phlebotomist is collecting and processing blood samples (e.g., centrifuging in the lab, performing aliquots on-site) as well as proper labeling and adherence to biosafety procedures. Phlebotomist may be asked to collect other physical measurements, such as blood pressure, height, weight, and hip/waist measures. Duties may include recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, and drawing blood.
Ensures compliance with applicable policies and regulations.
- Certification as a phlebotomist (e.g., completion of phlebotomy training)
- Demonstrated proficiency in successful blood collection, including with difficult veins.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to implement procedures in compliance with research protocols.
- Demonstrate basic word processing and data entry skills.
