Medical Technologist & Lab Technician, Research Scientist, Research Assistant/Associate
Position Summary
A full-time technician will support ongoing laboratory-based research activities. This position focuses on hands‑on laboratory operations, including preparation, calibration, and routine oversight of laboratory instruments and equipment. The technician will conduct microscopic analyses, perform cold hardiness and stress‑response assessments, and ensure accurate collection, organization, and management of laboratory‑generated data. Responsibilities also include maintaining and updating laboratory safety documentation, including Safety Data Sheets, and supporting compliance with institutional laboratory safety protocols.
The technician will assist faculty and students by providing technical guidance during laboratory‑based student projects and instructional activities. During peak harvesting periods, the technician will provide logistical and laboratory support related to sample processing and experimental workflows.
Horticulture Technician I
Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies- Laboratory experience
- MS Office
- Experience using a microscope
- Work in weather conditions such as hot, humid, wet and cold
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Driving as needed to perform job duties
- Perform microscopic assessments
- Perform cold hardiness assessments
- Data collection in spreadsheets and on Excel
- Maintain equipment in laboratory, by reading manual and performing calibrations
- Postharvest laboratory work like measuring titratable acidity using a titrator
- Assist with PhD/Master student projects in the field and in growers field by helping collect data
- Greenhouse work will require taking plant measurements, soil samples and fixing irrigation
- Safety trainings, taking training in PPE
- Office work consisting of writing manuscripts and reports, using statistical software
