Role OverviewThe Human Resources Generalist facilitates the daily functions of the human resources department at the manufacturing location including recruitment, talent development, teammate engagement/relations, onboarding, benefits administration, performance management, policy implementation and projects.
The position is based at an active mine site and requires daily onsite presence. Work conditions may include uneven terrain, climbing ladders, navigating steps, and exposure to varying weather conditions such as heat, rain, or mud.
Monday - Friday onsite required.
- Partners with Talent Acquisition on candidate sourcing, job marketing, career fairs, and pipeline development; manages and increases social media presence to enhance recruiting and morale.
- Administers candidate sourcing for regular and temporary plant staff including job marketing, representing the company i.e., planning and attending job/career fairs and job postings. Creating pipeline passive talent for company wide searches.
- Administers onboarding and new hire orientation programs; ensures consistency of materials, introduces company history and values, and coordinates recognition programs.
- Administers benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations; audits reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Establishes and maintains 30/60/90-day check-ins with new hires and supervisors to support integration and retention.
- Maintains the integrity of Dayforce HRISdata by entering new data and consistently auditing for accuracy, reports management.
- Visible to front line teammates handling employment-related inquiries, resolving teammate issues.
- Maintains visible presence on the plant floor; attends team huddles and teammate meetings to address employment-related inquiries and concerns.
- Leads and participates in teammate disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Administers and audits compliance programs including I-9s, postings, and employment law requirements; assists with compliance training.
- Administers the employability, aptitude, and skills assessments. Manage testing facilities and testing data to and ensure compliance with vendor, administrator, and user requirements.
- Manages leave of absence (LOA), FMLA, and STD processes; develops teammate-facing communication guides and ensures timely compliance
- Lead or assist with special projects as assigned. Coordinate and execute special events such as company picnics, holiday celebrations, open enrollment and training.
- Facilitates Teammate Event Committee (TEC) meetings and develops communication materials (flyers, emails, HR updates).
- Provides coaching and support to supervisors in interviewing, career planning, and policy enforcement; assists with skills assessments and career development initiatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Partners with Safety and HR leadership on CDL file management, DOT Compliance, and digital documentation processes.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field, aPHR or similar certification preferred.
- Minimum of two years’ experience human resource experience of principles, practices, and procedures.
