8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday‑Friday. Salary:
Up to $58,000.

Position Summary:
Monitor UGA network for unauthorized traffic and vulnerabilities using network‑ and server‑based tools. Work with clients to remedy vulnerabilities and secure network segments. Write and maintain scripts in PHP or Python to automate functions. Respond to IT security incidents, contain incidents, identify scope, and work with clients to secure their network. Install, configure, and maintain security tools on Linux and Windows systems.
- Monitor UGA network for unauthorized traffic, vulnerabilities, and sensitive data stores.
- Work with clients to remedy network vulnerabilities and secure network segments, removing sensitive data.
- Consult with support staff to assess incidents and advise on reducing risk.
- Participate in forensic examination of compromised machines.
- Write and maintain scripts in PHP or Python to automate functions.
- Provide emergency response for critical systems and applications, including firewalls and IPS.
- Monitor security alarms in SIEM.
- Respond to and assess security incidents, including state and federal law violations.
- Contain incidents, identify scope, and perform corrective actions.
- Verify, research, and coordinate responses to emails through abuse or Remedy system.
- Respond to DMCA claims, Open Records requests, and other security‑related requests.
- Monitor abuse queue.
- Install, configure, and maintain security tools on Linux and Windows systems.
- Modify policies in firewalls and other network‑based security tools.
- Manage provisioning of DNS addresses.
- Provide security training to faculty, staff, and students; organize lectures and Q&A sessions.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments for clients using security tools.
- High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience.
- 3 to 5 years of IT experience; familiarity with networking principles.
- Experience with security equipment (firewall, IPS, IDS, SIEM).
- Knowledge of Linux.
- Proficiency in PHP, Python, or equivalent.
- Customer service skills.
- Occasional moving of computers.
