Schedule: Emergency Critical Care Unit with potential shifts at front desk in the Large Animal unit. Will include evenings, weekends, and holidays. No more than 20 hours per week.

Position SummaryThis position is responsible for properly receiving and routing phone calls into the hospital from multiple callers. Providing correct information to clients who call in, after assessing their needs. Transferring calls to client care teams for the small and large animal call center based on the result of the calls answered. This position also provides support to all of the other positions in the front office to ensure continuous coverage for positions when other staff is out.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Be the first point of contact via phone or in-person for clients bringing pets for emergency care or referred by a local veterinarian.
- Provide assistance to clients regarding veterinary services rendered by communicating hospital charges and policies.
- Receive incoming patients at the Emergency front desk.
- Assist in triage of patients, when able, to determine level of care needed by assisting in the completion of patient profile information.
- Enter patient information into the hospital database system, Vetview, to create a chart for service charges to be rendered into.
Relevant/Preferred:
Experience in customer service, general office, veterinary animal care, or general work in a hospital setting.
- Knowledge of office equipment and multi-window use/diverse software applications, including multi-relational database systems.
- Working knowledge of MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook.
- Typing speed 35 wpm or higher preferred.
- Proven ability to work in a fast‑paced environment requiring multi‑tasking while under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills – written and verbal; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Punctuality and attendance are critical to fulfill the mission of the organization.
- Lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Repetitive motions and actions.
- Long periods of standing or sitting.
