Position Information Classification Title Student Assistant FLSA Non-Exempt UGA Job Code FTE 0.50 Minimum Qualifications Position Summary The Student Data Scientist will use AI image classification tools to identify the animals in images collected by game cameras. Using these image data, the project will quantify how often animal species visit sites and how long each visit lasts. The student will also organize the images and the resulting data so they are accurate, easy to find, and ready for analysis.

Students can work 15 to 20 hours per week, depending on their availability. Work hours are flexible and fall between 9 am and 5 pm.

• Program functions in R or Python to process game camera images.
• Run AI image classification models to identify the animals in each image.
• Review model output and correct classifications as needed.
• Organize image files using a consistent folder structure and file naming system.
• Compile and maintain classification results and image data in clean, documented datasets.
• Document code and workflows so the work can be reproduced.
