Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in bentgrass greens management.
  • Crew supervision.
  • Aerification.
  • Operational knowledge of golf course equipment and chemical application.
Position Summary

This highly responsible professional manages 18 holes on a golf course, the putting greens, and surrounding areas, covering 200 acres of property. Responsibilities include building maintenance, environmental/safety regulation and compliance, event organization, budgetary management of building use and facilities maintenance, and general supervision of a crew of approximately 5‑8 full‑time staff and 10‑20 part‑time student employees.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Turfgrass Management.
  • Delegate to others and ensure tasks are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Up to date with processes regarding golf course maintenance.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Knowledge of UGA Golf Course Best Management Practices Guidelines.
  • Proficiency with Irrigation software.

  • Being on your feet for long periods of time.
  • Driving as needed to perform job duties.
Duties / Responsibilities

Training

  • Responsible for onboarding, training, and continuing education of new as well as current employees. Allocate time each month for these activities to ensure employees feel comfortable with day‑to‑day tasks.

Employee Time Management

  • Schedule work for employees within budgetary limits. Maintain an accurate tracking system updated daily. Make necessary adjustments promptly. Ensure accurate weekend scheduling. Justify any amounts that exceed or do not meet budget in writing.

Daily Scheduling and Supervision of Work

  • Decide and post additional assignments before a subordinate’s first task. Keep an accurate Excel or similar work log detailing completed tasks and time required. Schedule to maximize efficiency. Responsible for hiring, firing, and performance evaluations of all subordinate employees, including grace‑period evaluations for new hires.

Management of the Timekeeping System

  • Monitor and approve timecards in a timely manner. Ensure employees approve their own timecards promptly and maintain breaks and consistent card usage.

Supervise Field Irrigation Maintenance

  • Perform all irrigation technician duties and work directly with the technician to maintain a fully operational irrigation system. Diagnose problems and select appropriate actions. Manage over 1,000 irrigation…
