Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director of the Career Center, the Director, UGA Mentor Program leads a university‑wide initiative that connects students with UGA alumni and affiliates. The Director supervises coordinators and works with graduate assistants, undergraduate student assistants, and student ambassadors. The role develops an annual strategic plan covering orientations, marketing, outreach, education, and program assessment, and advocates mentoring across campus.

The Director is a key member of the Career Center team, designing initiatives that support student career development, and contributes to committees that advance alumni engagement and philanthropy.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent, plus 10 years of professional experience including 3 years of supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading or participating in an established mentorship program in higher education
  • Experience leading a university‑wide program
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience as a member of a departmental leadership team
  • Master’s degree in higher education, student personnel administration, or a related field
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage and scale a university‑wide Mentor Program
  • Strong leadership skills to influence a culture of mentorship at UGA
  • Background in student services, relationship building, and marketing
Responsibilities
  • Provide Enterprise-Level Strategic Leadership for University-Wide Mentoring
    • Set and lead a long‑term strategic vision for mentoring.
    • Lead initiatives to expand mentoring access and increase student participation.
    • Establish university-wide standards, policies, and scalable frameworks.
    • Advise senior university leadership on mentoring strategy.
    • Develop high-level partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee Program Expansion and Effectiveness
    • Develop a data‑driven strategy to increase student participation and integrate career development.
    • Ensure effective program delivery, including virtual engagement and cohort-based mentoring.
    • Align operations across decentralized units to reduce duplication.
    • Design mentor stewardship strategies and stewardship matrix.
    • Represent UGA nationally and internationally, positioning UGA as a leader in mentoring innovation.
    • Serve on campus committees representing the Mentor Program/Career Center.
  • Provide Executive Oversight of Data, Assessment, and Technology Strategy
    • Establish a comprehensive data strategy for mentoring outcomes, alumni engagement, and ROI.
    • Oversee dashboards, reports, and executive briefings.
    • Ensure data integrity, compliance, and alignment with institutional systems.
    • Leverage data insights for strategic decisions and resource allocation.
    • Evaluate emerging technologies to enhance program reach and experience.
    • Collaborate with Advancement Services to improve alumni relations.
  • Lead and Develop High-Performing Teams and Organizational Capacity
    • Provide leadership and oversight for professional staff, including hiring and performance management.
    • Build capacity for long-term program growth and sustainability.
    • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration.
    • Develop training and professional development frameworks for staff and stakeholders.
