Maintenance Technician – American Woodmark
Location:
Jackson, GA (Within US)
Provide mechanical, electrical, and electronic maintenance support for manufacturing equipment and general plant facilities.
Essential Functions- Perform all work in a safe and efficient manner, observing lockout/tagout and confined space guidelines.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues on plant manufacturing equipment and facility equipment.
- Participate in installation of new or rebuilt equipment.
- Train new or backup Maintenance Support Technicians as needed.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic issues on plant manufacturing equipment and facility.
- Perform scheduled periodic maintenance of equipment.
- Follow local and national electrical codes and safety procedures.
- Use a PC to track work orders and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Be a self‑starter and team player on the maintenance team.
- Execute other duties directed by the Maintenance Supervisor or plant leadership.
- Maintain and repair all mill equipment, including panel saw and CNC router, electric lift equipment, conveyor systems, and hydraulic/pneumatic components.
- Perform preventive maintenance and necessary modifications on electric lift equipment, conveyor systems, and buildings.
- Provide equipment status reports, noting unusual maintenance problems.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and OSHA standards.
- Maintain a safe, clean work environment and perform daily cleanup of work areas.
No supervisory responsibilities.
QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, the individual must:
- Have a high school diploma or GED (preferred).
- Possess at least 2 years of vocational or technical training in industrial mechanics, pneumatics, or hydraulics.
- Complete an organized basic electrical program covering industrial electricity, motor controls, and PLCs.
- Have experience in industrial mechanical maintenance and repair of air tools.
- Demonstrate good written and oral communication skills.
- Show competence with PCs and Windows operating system.
- Have a minimum of four years in an organized maintenance organization.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret plant documents (work orders, packing lists, manuals).
- Basic mathematical skills for inventory control, material ordering, and job verification.
- Reasoning ability to define problems, collect data, and draw conclusions.
- Stand, walk, bend, and reach regularly; use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- Lift up to 20 pounds routinely, up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Work in indoor/outdoor manufacturing environment; moderate to high noise; hearing protection required.
- Safety glasses required; occasional evenings, weekends, and overtime with little or no notice.
