Position: Machine Operator-Orienter 1

Manufacturing Machine Operator – Mativ’s Filtration Advanced Materials Business. Responsible for the safe and efficient operation on machine lines including set‑up, start‑up, and use of line equipment, auxiliary equipment, tooling changes, monitoring and testing, and production reporting.

Shift: 7:45 pm to 8:00 am (night shift); training during day hours for first few weeks. Mandatory overtime may be required.

Hourly Pay: $20.70 per hour.

Responsibilities

Set up: Read and understand schedule, BOM, SOC. Perform all set‑up functions: select proper tooling; install tooling; insure correct resin.

Start‑up: Position all controls to SOC; activate extruder and miscellaneous drives; test initial product. Make necessary adjustments; verify product is in spec; package product per instructions; troubleshoot process; perform QC test per SOC; validate process in control; store finished product per instructions; correctly enter data in Data Collection.

Tooling: Identify tooling damage and wear; clean and return used tooling to stock.

Safety: Accident reporting procedure; complete housekeeping duties in work area at all times; comply with all OSHA/Company safety requirements. Knowledgeable of location of MSDS, first aid supplies, fire extinguishers, exits.

Qualifications
  • Forklift qualified.
  • Understand the Data Collection System.
  • Mechanical background.
  • Understand both metric and English measuring systems and convert between them.
  • Proficient in the use of calipers, micrometers, rulers.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
Position Demands

Manufacturing environment: air temperatures range from cold to hot; atmosphere may contain dust, fumes, and odors. Employees required to wear personal protective equipment: safety shoes (steel toe or composite toe), safety glasses, protective gloves (when performing certain tasks), hearing protection (when required), and other PPE as required for certain tasks.

Physical demands (must meet):

  • Be able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
  • Be able to work 12‑hour shifts.
  • Perform repetitive tasks.
  • Routinely stand, sit, hear, walk, and talk.
  • Reach, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, twist, and balance, sometimes in awkward or tight spaces.
  • Have good close vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.

Meet Mativ certification requirements to operate PIVs (include if applicable).
