Job SummaryJoin Pratt & Whitney’s Columbus Engine Center as a Paint & Coating Technician and play a critical role in restoring and protecting some of the world's most advanced jet engine components. In this hands‑on position, you will prepare, mask, blast, coat, and finish engine parts using specialized processes and equipment while ensuring compliance with strict aerospace quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a passion for precision work in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Shift1st Shift: Monday – Thursday 5:00 am – 3:30 pm
What You Will Do- Prepare jet engine components for coating through cleaning, masking, blasting, and surface preparation processes.
- Apply coatings and finishes in accordance with engineering specifications, customer requirements, and approved work instructions.
- Set up and operate blast booths, spray equipment, and other coating‑related tools and equipment.
- Perform self‑inspections and peer inspections to ensure coating quality, process compliance, and adherence to established standards.
- Inspect finished components, verify coating thickness and quality, and troubleshoot coating defects as needed.
- Complete required documentation and support Safety, Quality, and Delivery objectives in a fast‑paced aerospace manufacturing environment.
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1+ years of mechanical experience in manufacturing, maintenance, automotive, aviation, military, or a related technical field
- Experience with industrial paint, coating, masking, grit blasting, or surface preparation processes.
- Knowledge of coating inspection methods, including thickness measurement, adhesion testing, cure verification, and troubleshooting coating defects.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, and coating thickness gauges.
- Ability to read and interpret operation sheets, process instructions, and basic technical drawings.
