Position: CNC Machine Operator (2nd Shift 3pm -11pm)

The work model for the role is:
Onsite.

In this role, you will support the unit in achieving the set production targets by adhering to the systems and processes. Each day, you will use machinery and equipment on the shop floor and showcase your expertise by reading and interpreting the technical diagrams/instructions for assembly of products/systems/panels.

  • Perform multiple set‑ups with short production runs.
  • Operate CNC turning, drilling, and milling centers.
  • Read blueprints.
  • Perform mathematical calculations and use measuring devices.
  • Use precision measuring instruments to machine cast iron and steel parts to required specifications.
  • Work with teammates to achieve department goals.
  • Set up all equipment for all job assignments.
  • Demonstrate a high level of mechanical and CNC machining skills and self‑motivation.
  • Understand verbal and written technical instructions and respond in English.
  • Read and interpret information from blueprints, schematics, factory orders, routings and other internal documentation in hard copy or electronic formats.
  • Function safely in an industrial manufacturing setting, including shift work as required.
  • Maintain attendance and punctuality to company standards.
  • Use the overhead crane/hoist.
  • Use appropriate gauges and measuring devices.
  • Complete all inspections (TPM, Safety, etc.) as defined by supervision.
  • Understand machinery and equipment to perform processes productively and efficiently per engineering standards.
  • Assist maintenance in troubleshooting equipment.
  • Communicate with operators from other shifts.
  • Meet quality and productivity requirements.
  • Follow lock out/tag out and other safety procedures.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities

Conform to policies and procedures as an ABB employee. Perform housekeeping duties as required. Move parts, tooling, or gauging to satisfy customer requirements, including certification on and use of powered industrial vehicles if required. Train, share knowledge and information with coworkers.

Physical Requirements

Lift, push and/or pull (up to 50 lbs) up to 40% of the time with or without assistance. Use company‑designated personal protective equipment. Have visual acuity (corrected) sufficient to read directions, prints and gauges. Bend, stoop, twist and lift frequently (assisted and unassisted). Stand for extended periods of time. Work in a factory environment with concrete floor, heat, cold, noise, allergies, etc.

Must perform highly repetitive tasks.

Education Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent (GED). Basic computer skills as defined by the company. Achieve mechanical certification as required by the company.
