Job Description & How to Apply Below
Aruna Bio is a clinical-stage biotech company advancing a new class of cell-free biologics — exosomes — for the treatment of central nervous system and neurodegenerative disorders. We're looking for a Bioprocess Associate 1 – Upstream to join our manufacturing team and support production of AB126, our lead therapeutic exosome candidate.
As an Upstream Bioprocess Associate I, you'll be executing established upstream production processes in a cGMP environment. We need someone with solid hands-on cell culture skills, disciplined documentation habits, and the ability to work independently within defined procedures.
Core Responsibilities- Perform upstream bioprocess workflows, including mammalian cell culture maintenance, per established protocols and cGMP standards
- Support and occasionally participate in downstream bioprocess workflows via basic supply preparations, formulations, and documentation
- Follow aseptic technique practices to preserve both research and clinical material integrity
- Aseptically prepare media and buffers for mammalian cell culture
- Operate production equipment (pipettors, balances, biosafety cabinets, incubators, autoclaves, microscopes, centrifuges, etc.) safely and per relevant protocols
- Maintain safety standards and lab upkeep (includes routine disinfections of bioprocessing spaces and certain equipment)
- Complete manual, cGDP-compliant documentation in batch records and forms with a high degree of accuracy
- Associate's degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a relevant field (e.g. biology, cell biology, biochemistry, bioengineering); or a bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus 1 year of relevant research experience
- Ability to maintain aseptic mammalian cell culture without contamination under moderate supervision.
- Working knowledge of basic chemical and biological safety procedures in a lab setting
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage substantial technical data while keeping accurate documentation
- Strong attention to detail and time management, along with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision, showing personal accountability
- Proficiency with primary Microsoft Office Suite tools (Outlook, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Ability to work cooperatively in a controlled environment (ISO 5, 7, and
8) wearing clean room PPE for extended periods of time. - Willingness to participate in a rotating weekend work and holiday schedule to perform primary cell culture maintenance tasks
- Hands-on industrial experience in a cGMP-compliant environment (Preferred)
- Previous experience with production-scale, aseptic mammalian cell culture (Preferred)
