Active Ingredient Technician – Vaccine Manufacturing | Athens, Ga

Sigma Systems is hiring an Active Ingredient Technician for a 6-month contract in Athens, GA. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience in laboratory operations, vaccine manufacturing, bioprocessing, aseptic processing, cleanroom environments, cell culture, or pharmaceutical manufacturing.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, safety-focused, and comfortable following SOPs and USDA-regulated processes in an aseptic cleanroom environment.

  • Schedule Type: 4 × 10-hour shifts

    40 hours per week

  • Weekend/Holiday Work:
    Some weekend and holiday work required
  • Rabies Vaccination:
    Required
Job Responsibilities
  • Perform activities associated with the preparation of vaccine components in an aseptic cleanroom environment.
  • Utilize virus and cell culture techniques in accordance with applicable USDA regulations and established procedures.
  • Follow and comply with all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) during production and processing activities.
  • Complete and review in-process documentation accurately and within required timelines.
  • Maintain technical data, batch records, and supporting documentation according to established requirements.
  • Assist with training and coaching current and new employees on required processes and technical skills.
  • Participate in root cause analysis to identify and resolve process or production issues.
  • Support the implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Escalate production flow disturbances and operational issues appropriately.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs and initiatives.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and individual performance assessments.
  • Support site projects, process improvements, and departmental initiatives.
  • Assist with deviation and change control management activities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet production, quality, safety, and operational goals.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Biology or related degree preferred.
  • 1+ year of laboratory and/or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge or experience with cleanroom environments and aseptic techniques.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and basic automation issues.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Ability to work scheduled overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Rabies vaccination required.
