The University of Georgia is seeking qualified candidates to serve as a community‑engagement facilitator, known as an Archway Professional. This Public Service & Outreach Faculty member will serve as the lead public service faculty in a rural Georgia community. The Archway Partnership is a Public Service and Outreach Unit under the leadership of the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach.
The Archway Professional spends most of their time in the specific Archway county and region, but travel to Athens and other Archway Partnership communities is required as needed. The Archway Professional acts as the point of contact in the community and represents the entire University.
Minimum QualificationsA minimum of a Master’s degree in public administration, urban/regional planning, public policy, public health, higher education, community development, business, non‑profit management, or related field.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Proven professional who is responsive, service oriented, efficient, and timely with the desire to work as a member of a team sharing common goals and mission.
- Background in group facilitation, consensus building, focus groups, public engagement, and community organizing.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent writing and interpersonal skills; strong attention to detail, including the ability to present scientific, technical, and programmatic information to a broad range of audiences.
- History interacting with people of varied backgrounds.
- Proven community program and project management skills.
- Excellent data analytics and computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office.
- Ability and willingness to travel to locations across Georgia as needed.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a highly integrated and dynamic team.
- Organize and facilitate meetings of the local monthly Executive Committee and various issue work groups.
- Coordinate student experiential learning and faculty research through community programs or projects.
- Develop dynamic relationships with community stakeholders to foster consensus, capacity building, sustainability, and resilience.
- Utilize decision‑making and problem‑solving skills to identify resources and assist community work groups with accomplishing objectives.
- Familiarize with a wide range of resources at UGA, other higher education institutions, state agencies, regional partnerships, non‑profit organizations, and professional trade associations.
- Assist the community and the Archway Partnership Operations Coordinators in articulating and continually prioritizing community needs.
- Demonstrate partnership, collaboration, and community engagement best practices and principles.
- Document activities and program impact through a variety of evaluation mechanisms.
- Position local partnerships, programs, and projects for marketing and promotional media opportunities.
- Engage in regional partnerships to support community connectivity to additional resources.
