- Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner with First Assist - Piedmont Athens Hospital

Piedmont Healthcare is recruiting for an Advanced Practice Provider to join an established Neurosurgery practice at Piedmont Athens Hospital. The position is full-time, 5 days a week and includes rotations with established APPs for weeknight and weekend call.

• Assist with hospital rounding, consults, and patient discharges.
• Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and record data in the patient's medical record in ambulatory practice. These clinical responsibilities require thorough attention to detail.
• Evaluate and treat patients to achieve optimal patient care.
• Write progress notes; prepare patient work-ups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings.
• Develop plans of care that minimize complications and successfully troubleshoot problems when they arise. Apply preventative and alternative treatment strategies for possible procedural complications.
• Complete pre-op appointments for all surgical patients, working with the supervising physician to ensure all required labs, clearances, and testing are satisfactorily complete well before surgery.
• Manage first call on a rotating basis, typically one 3-day weekend in 7 and 2-4 additional weeknight call shifts per month.

1-2 years of neurosurgical or general surgical experience with a high degree of clinical judgment.
