The Health & Safety Nurse Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring organizational policies, procedures, and systems that promote a safe environment, support risk mitigation, and ensure regulatory compliance. This position oversees agency wide health and safety operations, infection prevention and control activities, conducts risk assessments, and assists in incident response across all programs and locations.
Job Responsibilities and Performance Standards- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety management programs that ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
- Monitor changes in regulations and standards; recommend and support process improvements to maintain ongoing compliance.
- Establish health and safety standards and measurable outcomes across all agency programs and services.
- Coordinate organizational health and safety initiatives in collaboration with agency programs. NEO, Infection Control.
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous evaluation of Health and Safety and Infection Control Plans.
- Manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical safety requirements across all agency sites.
- Monitor and coordinate safety related and community risk events, including emergency situations and after hours incidents.
- Ensure timely escalation to agency leadership and accurate dissemination of information to staff using text alerts and mass emergency communication systems.
- Assists the agency's Risk and Compliance department in conducting audits, inspections, and investigations related to incident reports involving health, safety, and infection control.
- Deliver training to new employees, contractors, and existing staff as part of orientation and ongoing education programs.
- Collect, analyze, and present safety related data, trends, and risk indicators to agency leadership to support proactive decision making.
- Serve as an agency liaison with community partners and external agencies, fostering collaboration related to safety, emergency preparedness, infection control, and other health and safety initiatives.
- Knowledge of risk management principles, regulatory standards, and compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to interpret policies, regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic health record/reporting systems.
- Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in behavioral health or healthcare settings.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and safety regulations, infection control practices, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Experience conducting investigations, incident reviews, or risk assessments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
- Ability to analyze safety and compliance data and present findings to leadership.
Monday 9-4pm, Tuesday-Friday 9-2:30pm.
