PositionQuality Engineer – Athens, GA
In this role, you will support Caterpillar Quality Management System audits and certification efforts, lead root cause and corrective action (RCCA) efforts, and ensure built in quality (BIQ) is maintained in the plant.
What You Can Look Forward To In This Role- Work with all employees to improve quality practices through daily coaching, tracking Built in Quality (BIQ) projects and scorecard
- Provide quality support to deter poor results or negative trends
- Develop training programs and courses on quality specifications for employees
- Conduct internal quality audits and facilitate management reviews
- Implement the Idea Generation Process and Corrective and Preventive action processes by clarifying and verifying all ideas, performing spot checks, explaining validation reasons, and encouraging zero defect in operations
- Actively support 5S/Lean Manufacturing/Class A, SAP, and ongoing support to help area owners set goals and integrate 5S/Lean practices with internal quality certification through standardization and documentation
- Quality Management:
Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the organization’s quality goals - Problem Solving:
Knowledge of approaches, tools and techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving problems and applying problem solving appropriately to diverse situations - Root Cause Analysis (RCA):
Structured approach to identify causes of undesirable consequences in manufacturing and implement preventive actions - Manufacturing Standards, Procedures, and Policies:
Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures, and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor processes for compliance
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Manufacturing with an excellent understanding of quality management practices or equivalent experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Three to five years of experience and a thorough knowledge of quality concepts including process control, analysis, Caterpillar internal certification principles, and ISO
9000 - Experience coaching others on problem solving techniques
- Strong communication, cooperation, and influence skills to work with all levels of employees and customers, especially with leadership and management employees
- Experience with quality tools and the ability to teach manufacturing and office employees how to properly apply quality tools or techniques
The primary location for this position is Athens, GA. Relocation is available for this role. Sponsorship is not available.
Summary Pay Range$89,210.00 - $. Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
