- Specific tasks include rapidly identifying and counting small insects under stereo microscope magnification, assist with insect colonies, plant seeds/seedlings and other duties related to entomological research.
- When samples (either frozen or in alcohol) are collected and in storage, the samples must be processed in scheduled time each week.
- Colonies and the plants that maintain these colonies need to be checked twice weekly.
- Other duties will be determined in a weekly lab meeting.

The vegetable entomology research laboratory conducts investigation into how pest insects affect vegetable productivity in Georgia and how to best control these pests. Current tasks include maintaining insect (e.g., whitefly and diamondback moth) colonies, collecting and processing samples and entering data. Specific tasks include rapidly identifying and counting small insects under stereo microscope magnification, maintain plant food for insect colonies, plant seeds/seedlings for colonies and/or research tests, scout, and other duties related to entomological field research.
PhysicalDemands
Look through the stereo microscope for hours at a time in order to do the insect counts. Lift soil tubs and standard potting trays with full pots. Be on-time for the assigned times of work. Driving. Some field work.
