Duties/Responsibilities
  • Assist with set up, running, and data collection for ecotoxicology experiments.
  • Field work for trapping/collecting amphibians and reptiles.
  • Additional lab work such as environmental DNA analysis.
  • Data entry/management.

Percentage Of Time
: 50% for duties related to ecotoxicology experiments; 25% for field work; 15% for additional lab work; 10% for data entry/management.

Position Summary

This is a technician position at the Savannah River Ecology Laboratory (SREL). The incumbent is responsible for assisting current University of Georgia graduate students with field and laboratory research. The technician will assist with ecotoxicological research on amphibians and/or snakes, including trapping and handling in the field, setting up and maintaining mesocosm experiments, data collection/entry, and assisting with the metal analysis of tissues.

The technician will also assist with other ongoing projects such as amphibian population monitoring, environmental DNA collection and analysis, camera trap footage review, and acoustic recording device file management.

Physical Demands

Lift at least 50 pounds; work outdoors up to 8 hours per day; ability to handle amphibians and snakes; willingness to work in wet and/or hot conditions; attention to detail and data entry proficiency.
