Responsibilities- Complete primary research projects in collaboration with the PI to understand growth, regeneration and reproduction of tapeworms.
- Lead lab maintenance tasks including propagation of the tapeworm life cycle, organize and maintain inventory of research materials, prepare common solutions and reagents, and ensure lab compliance and efficient lab operations.
- Supervise research technicians in the lab and perform primary research under PI supervision.
- Independently supervise timely completion of lab maintenance tasks.
- Train and supervise personnel in lab operations and maintenance tasks.
- Perform data analysis and communication tasks using Fiji, microscopy software, Adobe Suite, PowerPoint/Keynote, spreadsheets, Prism, and related tools; participate in regular lab meetings and conferences as opportunities arise.
- Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in a related field of science and 2 years of professional experience.
- Preferred: BA/BSc in biological sciences.
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies include molecular biology skills, microinjection, tissues sectioning, RNA in situ hybridization, and related laboratory techniques as described in the knowledge section.
- Complete primary research projects with the PI (60% of time).
- Independently supervise lab maintenance tasks (20% of time).
- Train and supervise lab personnel (10% of time).
- Data analysis, presentation, and software utilization; participate in lab meetings and conference presentations (10% of time).
