- Rapidly identify and count small insects under stereo microscope magnification.
- Assist with insect colonies, plant seeds/seedlings, and other duties related to entomological research.
- Process samples (frozen or in alcohol) in the scheduled weekly timeframe.

The vegetable entomology research laboratory investigates how pest insects affect vegetable productivity in Georgia and how to best control these pests. Current tasks include maintaining insect colonies (e.g., whitefly and diamondback moth), collecting and processing samples, and entering data. Specific tasks include rapidly identifying and counting small insects under stereo microscope magnification, maintaining plant food for colonies, providing seeds/seedlings for colonies or research tests, scouting, and other duties related to entomological field research.
