• Tend to plants in greenhouse. Plant, weed, fertilize, water, pollination, harvest, disease screening, and data collection.
• Collect plant samples, label, flag, stake, data collection, pollinations, making breeding crosses, disease screening.
• Lab Protocols—Nucleic acid extraction, and other vegetable breeding related research.
• Lab maintenance and chores – wash glassware, autoclave supplies, prepare basic solutions and media, take away trash, etc.

Lab/Field Responsibilities

• Position details include potting, planting, fertilizing, watering, weeding, pollinating, data collection, disease screening, and harvesting plants belonging to different breeding populations.
• Keep greenhouse space neat, orderly and weed free. Assist with basic field and laboratory research including tissue sample collection, pollinations, basic data collection, disease screening, and setting up field studies with labeling and flags, stakes, and markers.
• Assist with basic lab protocols including molecular biology and maintain/clean laboratory space.

Selected applicant will provide assistance in greenhouse research activities including potting, planting, fertilizing, watering, weeding, pollinating, data collection, disease screening, and harvesting plants belonging to different breeding populations. Selected applicant will assist in keeping greenhouse space neat, orderly and weed free. Individual will provide assistance with basic field and laboratory research as requested including tissue sample collection, pollinations, basic data collection, disease screening, and setting up field studies including labeling and placing flags, stakes and markers.
