The job includes but not limited to work in laboratory, greenhouse and field to study on commercial cole crops fields for the distribution of fungicide resistance among Alternaria sp. using traditional and molecular methods. The candidate is also expected to decipher modes of seed infection and associated mitigation strategies.

Position Summary:This will be a Ph.D. position starting Spring 2021 in the Department of Plant Pathology, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, The University of Georgia – Tifton campus. The position is based in Coastal Plain Experiment Station in GA. The successful candidate will be responsible for surveying commercial cole crops fields for the distribution of fungicide resistance among Alternaria sp. using traditional and molecular methods.
Candidate should have completed a Master’s Degree in Plant Pathology, and be interested in basic and applied research in Plant Pathology. Candidate will have the opportunity to work in a multi-state and multi-disciplinary team of scientists with ample opportunities to interact directly with stakeholders.
