High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience
Preferred Qualifications Position Summary
The Devos lab requires the assistance of a full time laboratory technician to ensure that project deliverables are met, undergraduate employees are adequately trained and supervised in the lab, and to ensure that supplies and chemicals are properly ordered and tracked. This position is in the Devos Lab and assists with a variety of research projects as well as conducts administrative duties, ordering, maintaining chemical inventories, and ensuring compliance with lab safety regulations.
Additional duties are assisting with greenhouse and field work. This position involves the use of a P-Card

* Detail-oriented and accurate for both experimental activities and lab manager activities.

* Good financial acumen to manage budgets, procurement

* Ability to learn and acquire new procedures/skills and solve routine technical problems.
* Ability to multitask and prioritize work assignments, working independently with limited supervision.
* Ability to train others effectively and efficiently in the laboratory
* Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
Physical Demands
* Greenhouse as well as outdoor work in hot conditions
* Lift 20lbs
* Some sitting and standing in the laboratory environment
* Driving as needed to perform job duties

Duties/Responsibilities
Duties/Responsibilities
Administrative duties such as ordering laboratory supplies from various vendors using UGAMart and other platforms. Utilizes Campus Optics for tracking of chemicals stored in the laboratory. Maintain lab safety records along with training new student employees on proper safety and compliance processes. Serves as a P-Card holder, processing transactions in compliance with policy and established procedures.
Percentage of time 40 Duties/Responsibilities
Assists with a variety of research projects in the Devos lab. Tasks will include research plant growth, maintenance and harvesting, laboratory experiments, and preparation of reagents and media.
Percentage of time 40 Duties/Responsibilities
Training undergraduate employees and graduate students on proper lab protocols and experimental procedures to ensure that project deliverables are met.
Percentage of time 10 Duties/Responsibilities
Assisting with work in the greenhouses and field sites where plant material for sponsored projects are grown, propagated and harvested. Other duties as assigned.
