Position Summary
The Small Fruit Research and Extension Lab is seeking a resourceful and motivated individual interested in horticulture for a PhD research assistantship in the Department of Horticulture at the University of Georgia’s Tifton campus. The role focuses on blueberry production, management practices such as fertilization, pruning, and water management, and alternative blueberry production systems. The chosen candidate will develop field and outreach skills, enhance statistical analysis and technical writing, and gain professional development experiences useful for future careers in industry and academia.
Qualifications- Education:
Agronomy, horticulture, plant physiology, or a related discipline from an accredited institution. - Experience:
Knowledge of plant physiology and research; prior field work and experience relevant to blueberry production topics. - Skills:
Project design, data entry, statistical analysis, technical writing, and willingness to work outdoors in heat and humidity.
Bending, lifting up to fifty pounds, working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
