The vegetable entomology research laboratory investigates how pest insects affect vegetable productivity in Georgia and how to best control these pests.
Duties and Responsibilities- Rapidly identify and count small insects under stereo microscope magnification.
- Assist with insect colonies, plant seeds/seedlings, and other duties related to entomological research.
- Process frozen or alcohol‑preserved samples in scheduled weekly sessions.
- Check colonies and plants that maintain these colonies twice weekly.
- Other duties as determined in weekly lab meetings.
- Be punctual for assigned work times.
- Looking through the stereo microscope for extended periods.
- Lifting soil tubs and standard potting trays with full pots.
- Driving required.
