Minimum Qualifications Position Summary

The Post-Doctoral AD position is housed in the Department of Horticulture at the University of Georgia's Tifton Campus. The Post-doctoral associate will explore genetic mechanisms of resistance to Aspergillus infection and aflatoxin contamination through population phenotyping, metabolomics, genotyping, genetic mapping, and transcriptome analysis utilizing materials generated in the laboratory, greenhouse, and field.

This is a limited-term position expected to end one year after the start date. Renewal or extension beyond the initial term is anticipated but not guaranteed and will depend on project needs, the availability of funding, and job performance. The position may be renewed on an annual basis, contingent upon continued grant support.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position

* PhD in plant biology, genetics, or breeding-related field.

* Molecular and cellular biology knowledge and skills.

* Some experience with metabolomics and bioinformatics.

* Excellent oral and written communication skills.

* Proven publication record.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

* Work independently, as well as an integral member of a team,

* Experience with breeding, metabolomics, and molecular genetics including computational expertise is required.

* Knowledge of stress physiology.

Physical Demands

* Standing

* Lifting up to 30 lbs.

* Enduring outside and/or inside elements for extended periods of time, travel to/from multiple locations as needed for job duties.

* Driving as needed to perform job duties
