Position Summary
The CEID Postdoctoral Scholar will serve as a scientist-in-residence, working on research projects with the CEID Infectious Disease Forecasting Working Group. Scholars will write scholarly articles and seek to publish research findings in academic journals. Research will also be shared to CEID members during workshops and other events, and to the greater scientific community through presentation at external conferences when appropriate.
The selected individual(s) will have access to world class faculty and research scientists and an assigned faculty mentor, technical support for computational projects, and the opportunity to participate in CEID activities including workshops, seminars, collaborative projects and working groups. CEID Postdoctoral Scholars will either take a leadership role in an existing working group, or form a new working group(s) based on research areas of interest to the individual and other CEID members.
and Responsibilities
- Design and conduct research in infectious disease forecasting. (70% time)
- Write scholarly articles and present research at CEID events as well as external meetings. (15% time)
- Assist with collaborative projects, including the forecasting working group and CEID initiated research proposals. (15% time)
PhD in Ecology or related discipline, relevant to infectious disease research; 0-6 years in Postdoctoral experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesCandidates with strong quantitative skills and a background in ecology, evolution, or infectious disease biology are especially encouraged to apply.
Physical DemandsTraveling to/from buildings around campus as needed for meetings – primarily in the vicinity of the CEID Offices and the Odum School of Ecology. Occasional off‑campus travel for research, conferences, etc.
