Seeking Research Technicians to assist with Northern Bobwhite trapping, radio-telemetry tracking, and nest checking of Northern Bobwhite as well as other associated fieldwork as part of larger experimental studies. Data entry, equipment maintenance, and other duties requested by supervisors. Selected individuals will also gain numerous opportunities to interact directly with the Georgia DNR. Employees will be working with minimal supervision on site and should be comfortable working independently.
Previous experience with radio-telemetry is desired. Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Excel, databases, and ArcGIS is desired. Applicants should be comfortable occasionally working alone after dark.
- Trapping quail – 40%
- Tracking quail – 40%
- Data entry – 10%
- Equipment maintenance – 5%
- Travel between sites – 5%
Relevant/
Preferred Education:
Working toward a degree in wildlife management or closely related field.
Qualifications:
- Interest in game bird management and ecology
- Good driving record
- Understanding of consumptive wildlife management practices
- Positive attitude and willingness to be a team player
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience pulling trailers
- Experience operating UTVs
- Previous gamebird work experience
- Previous telemetry, field research, and computer experience
Lift up to 50 lbs. for brief periods, work in inclement weather, driving.
