Position Summary
The Rajao Lab in the Department of Population Health at the University of Georgia is recruiting a highly motivated postdoctoral scholar to work with influenza pathogenesis and control. The lab’s research focuses on the interspecies transmission, pathogenesis, and control of influenza viruses. The postdoc will conduct in vitro and in vivo experiments to evaluate different compounds for the control and prevention of influenza viruses in swine and poultry, and will participate in other projects within the lab and an international collaborative group of students, postdocs, and researchers.
Responsibilities- 50% Time – Design and develop research projects, perform in vitro and in vivo experimental work, interpret data, and collaborate on research projects.
- 20% Time – Prepare written and oral communication of research output.
- 20% Time – Mentor and train other lab members.
- 10% Time – Perform lab‑related activities such as meetings, housekeeping, and other duties.
- Ph.D. degree and training in virology or immunology.
- Previous experience working with antivirals or vaccines.
- Previous experience working with swine and/or poultry.
- Energetic, self‑driven, highly motivated, dependable, and teamwork oriented.
PhD in virology with a training and proven track record in cloning, sequencing, and avian/swine in vivo and in vitro models.
Physical DemandsSitting or standing for extended periods of time. Lifting up to 40 pounds.
