Location of Vacancy - Athens Area. Retirement Plan: TRS. Starting Date: 07/01/2026.

Responsibilities
  • Lead setting up, laying out, and managing both summer and winter crossing blocks; lead the team for soybean pollination in field and greenhouse and manage greenhouse materials.
  • Manage the soybean breeding database and conduct experimental design, harvest plans, data quality control, data analysis, interpretation, and result summarization. Maintain seed purity and seed inventories and increase as needed.
  • Collaborate with the program research coordinator and team in all field research activities (seed cleaning, treatment and packaging, planting, field plots, field notes, harvesting, pod picking, post-harvest phenotyping, seed composition analyses).
  • Coordinate breeding projects for regional trials and cooperative tests; liaise between Seed Lab and Molecular Lab for marker-assisted selection; maintain inventory of supplies and order as needed.
  • Provide support to graduate students and recruit/manage undergraduate students for daily tasks; maintain and utilize NIR machines for soybean seed composition analysis.
  • Purchase urgent field supplies as needed; complete reconciliation of P-Card receipts and statements monthly.
  • Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience.

    Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge and skills in agricultural production systems and plant breeding; proficiency in field research activities; ability to learn new technology; demonstrated teamwork skills; ability to work in both field and lab environments.
