Position Summary
The Heterogeneous Robotics Lab (He Ro Lab ) at the University of Georgia invites applications for a Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow focused on swarm robotics and AI for science. The postdoc will start on July 1, 2026, and work closely with Dr. Ramviyas N. Parasuraman in the School of Computing, collaborating with Dr. Yohannes Abate in the Department of Physics.
The role involves research on swarm intelligence, AI-driven analysis of quantum materials, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Design and conduct research projects in swarm robotics, AI for science, and related interdisciplinary areas.
- Write research papers, reports, deliverables, software releases, and research proposals on relevant topics.
- Contribute to the functioning of the lab group and, as needed, assist with mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff on ongoing projects, including experimental work with robot platforms and simulation frameworks.
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field.
- Strong communication, analytical, mathematical reasoning, and quantitative skills.
- Evidence of independent research and effective teamwork.
- Publications in top-tier robotics and AI conferences or journals (e.g., ICRA, IROS, RSS, AAAI, IJCAI);
Nature and Science group publications are a plus. - Experience with multiple robot platforms, simulation frameworks, and analysis of nanoscopic or quantum-inspired data.
- Interest in mentoring junior researchers.
- Proficiency in English (written and verbal).

Hours:
40 hours/week with variable schedule based on project needs
Salary: $65,000 per annum (FLSA exempt)
Funding:
Fellowship from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation for two years; continuation depends on a 2027 report that evaluates first‑year outcomes.
