Position SummaryThe Evolutionary Immunogenomics Lab (PI: Dr. Tauras Vilgalys) at the University of Georgia seeks a highly motivated and independent Postdoctoral Associate to investigate how natural populations resist infectious diseases. The role involves project design, execution, and dissemination of research using high-throughput functional genomics, bioinformatics, and in‑vitro experimental systems to explore primate evolution, host‑pathogen dynamics, and gene‑by‑environment interactions. The position is intended to prepare the candidate for a research scientist career path, offering mentorship and the opportunity to supervise junior scientists.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Conduct scientific research, including project design, execution, and dissemination.
- Mentor and support the professional development of undergraduates, graduate students, and other laboratory scientists.
- Ph.D. in genetics/genomics, immunology, evolutionary biology, or a closely related field.
- Strong background in immunology, genome regulation, evolutionary genomics, and mammalian cell culture is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated capacity for independent, high‑productivity research.
- Excellent communication, time‑management, and leadership skills.
- English language proficiency (written and verbal) is essential.
- Ability to lead projects involving mammalian cell culture, immunological assays, and functional genomics.
