Position SummaryThe Senior Research Associate at the Analytical Services and Training Laboratory will be proficient in developing advanced MS techniques (MS/MS) for glycoproteins, oligosaccharides, and peptides in collaborative and time-sensitive projects. They will need a strong background in carbohydrates and MS techniques, particularly on orbitraps, to tackle challenging analyses. Proficiency in isolating and purifying polysaccharides and glycoproteins from diverse sources, coupled with adeptness in writing, editing, and collaborating on manuscripts and reviews, is essential.
They will excel in training colleagues in structural characterization techniques and may contribute to teaching and organizing training courses as required. Flexibility to take on additional responsibilities as assigned is needed.
- Developing methods for MS and MS/MS analysis of oligosaccharides, glycopeptides and peptides on both collaborative and service projects. (40%)
- Developing methods for isolation and purification of glycans from cells and tissue or from drug products from industry. (20%)
- Writing and editing manuscripts and reviews from our laboratory or collaborator laboratories. (no percentage specified)
- Performing chemical derivatization for MS analysis for glycan and polysaccharide projects. (10%)
- Training other scientists in the laboratory on structural characterization of glycoproteins and oligosaccharides. (5%)
