Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced senior research scientist with extensive background in carbohydrate chemistry and synthetic chemistry to develop chemical biology tools and strategies for improving fermentation processes. The role includes experimental work, preparation of research reports, publication, patents, proposal development, and training of graduate and undergraduate researchers.
Responsibilities- Experimental work in structural analysis of complex carbohydrates from fermentation broths, reductive catalytic fractionation residuals, and glycoenzyme reactions (30%).
- Experimental work related to chemical synthesis of modified carbohydrates and NDP‑sugars for chemo‑enzymatic studies of glycoenzymes (30%).
- Write manuscripts, contribute to grant proposals, prepare quarterly and annual reports, attend project meetings (20%).
- Supervise students and manage lab chemical safety (20%).
- Master’s degree in a related field of science and at least 5 years of professional experience.
- Knowledge of analytical, organic, or biochemical research principles and practices.
- Skill in carbohydrate analysis, organic chemistry techniques, or related laboratory processes.
- Ability to contribute to collaborative research efforts and work effectively with internal and external partners.
