Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience.
- BS or MS in Ecology, Forestry, Natural Resources, Wildlife, or related fields.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Capability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic laboratory and data management skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience with forest measurement and ecophysiology techniques and equipment, including sap flow sensors, soil moisture sensors, thermocouples, data loggers, infrared gas analyzers, pressure chambers, etc.
This position is a highly responsible technical research support role incumbent assists with oversight and data collection related to forest ecosystem ecology, ecophysiology, ecohydrology, fire ecology, and biogeochemistry. Major duties include measuring ecosystem processes and physiology in forest stands, maintaining experimental treatments, fabricating and repairing sensors, and coordinating and training technicians, students, and collaborating scientists.
Responsibilities- Manages day-to-day research activities and serves as point of contact for lab and field safety issues on Aubrey Lab projects (15%).
- Provides oversight and leadership of routine and discrete data collection, data management, and quality assurance/control for Aubrey Lab projects (40%).
- Provides oversight and leadership of general lab and field experiment organization, maintenance, and sensor fabrication related to Aubrey Lab projects.
- Provides assistance with data analysis and preparation of scientific reports, manuscripts, research proposals, and permitting (5%).
- Integrity, initiative, problem‑solving, decision making, teamwork, communication, sharing knowledge, and satisfying job duties as outlined.
This is a field position with occasional harsh outdoor conditions (hot, humid). Requirements include herbicide application, fertilizer application, brush cutting, mowing, digging, and other physical activities. Driving is a responsibility of this position.
