Postdoctoral Associate – FACS Nutritional Sciences
Position Summary:
The University of Georgia is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Postdoctoral Researcher to join a dynamic nutritional neuroscience research lab focused on understanding the molecular, cellular, and behavioral mechanisms of how nutrition impacts brain function and how the brain regulates eating behavior. The candidate will contribute to the direction of ongoing research, design and perform experiments, collect and analyze data, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, write papers, attend scientific meetings, and write grants.
and Responsibilities
- Share discoveries through writing publications and presenting at scientific meetings
- Perform molecular biology techniques such as PCR, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and microscopy
- Analyze data and maintain accurate and detailed experimental records and data logs
- Design and conduct experiments involving rodent models, including behavioral testing, surgical procedures, and tissue collection
- Participate in lab meetings and contribute to discussions on experimental design and data interpretation
- PhD in neuroscience, nutrition, biology, psychology, or a related field
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Laboratory experience with proficiency in at least one or more of the following: RT qPCR, immunohistochemistry, fiber photometry, proteomics or metabolomics, immunoblotting, in situ hybridization, rodent behavioral research
Sit and work at a computer workstation for extended periods in a standard office environment. Lift 10 lbs overhead, carry 30 lbs, and transport oneself between buildings (approximately 1 mile).
