Post-Doctoral Associate (AD) Position Summary
Due to the varied nature of projects at BFF, the Post Doc will be required to operate in a variety of disciplines to execute fermentation projects for a major client. Outside of that work the Postdoc will focus on cell culture and protein purification process development. In addition, the candidate should have an understanding of molecular biology principles including gene cloning and strain development.
The candidate will contribute to the development of new procedures that could eventually be services offered in the facility. This will require the ability to critically read and adapt procedures from the scientific literature, and accurately implement requested services.
- 50%:
Executing fermentation projects, including setup, cultivation, cleaning of system, data collection and analysis. - 40%:
Executing cell culture and purification projects, operating cell culture equipment and protein purification equipment. - 5%:
New technology development. - 3%:
Train and mentor students (undergraduate and graduate) on equipment and techniques, allow shadowing opportunities for students. - 2%:
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
PhD degree in Biochemistry, Microbiology or related discipline or higher plus 3 or more years experience, or a Master of Science degree or higher and 0 years experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & CompetenciesKnowledge of microbiology/fermentation, protein purification theory and practice including operation of FPLC equipment.
