Job SummaryThe Ye lab at the University of Georgia is a Human Genetics laboratory focused on Human Nutrition. The lab seeks a postdoc to work at the interface of Population Genetics and Quantitative Genetics to study the role of Gene‑Environment Interactions in human evolution and complex traits. The position involves empirical data analysis of ancient and modern DNA, large biobanks, and theoretical modeling, with a focus on metabolic diseases and personalized nutrition.
Responsibilities- Utilize ancient and modern DNA to study the evolution of metabolic genes and traits.
- Develop population genetics models to characterize gene‑environment interactions in the evolution of human complex traits.
- Analyze data from UK Biobank to empirically identify gene‑environment interactions for human complex traits, especially circulating levels of omega‑3 and omega‑6 fatty acids.
- Perform literature reviews, project management, data analysis, manuscript writing, and presentations.
Administrative responsibilities (20% of time):
- Supervise and train graduate and undergraduate students.
- Assist with the daily operations of the laboratory.
Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., genetics, statistics, biology).
Prior experience in population genetics or quantitative genetics.
Strong background in programming and statistics.
