This position will work with others on our team to develop treatments for neuromuscular diseases such as ALS (Lou Gehrig disease). We work on cell-based and gene therapies in cellular and mouse models. This position will be in a collaborative research environment. This person will conduct detailed studies and have keen observational skills and eventually work independently. Knowledge and experiences in molecular genetics and cell culture.

Responsibilities of the position will include maintaining lab safety regulations, laboratory instruments, and inventory, assisting with the purchase of lab supplies, and ensuring overall organization.

Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Lab and research knowledge and skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Conduct research in the lab, including collection and recording of data and assisting with developing reports. (60% of time)
• Assist with lab maintenance: safety regulations, laboratory instruments and inventory, purchasing lab supplies, washing glassware, preparing basic solutions and media, and taking away trash. (30% of time)
• Supervise student workers and undergraduate students that assist with research. (10% of time)
