Position SummaryPerform NIH-funded research in the area of CRISPR and anti-CRISPR biology.
Responsibilities- Designing and conducting experiments to identify and characterize anti-CRISPR proteins from viruses; to identify and characterize new viruses and plasmids from hyperthermophilic archaea; and to understand detailed molecular mechanisms of prokaryote-viral defense/counter‑defense interactions.
- Assisting with the daily operations of the laboratory including maintenance of phage and bacteria stocks.
- Preparing manuscripts and presenting findings at conferences in coordination with the PI for the dissemination of your findings.
- Assisting with the supervision of student members of the laboratory.
- Other duties to support research as assigned.
- PhD degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related fields.
- PhD level competence to conduct independent research; knowledge of literature; abilities in hypothesis generation, experimental design, conducting experiments, drawing conclusions, writing reports and manuscripts, delivering oral presentations.
Standing throughout the day and for long periods of time.
