This position will assist faculty and staff with greenhouse, research and field plots as well as help with extension and teaching activities. The role involves indoor and outdoor work with minimum supervision, occasional greenhouse work, and intermittent out‑of‑town travel to research plots. Computer experience with word processing, spreadsheet, and graphics software is a plus.
Responsibilities- Nursery/Greenhouse (50%): potting, pruning, weeding, grafting, seeding, data entry, maintaining research plots, watering, fertilizer and pesticide applications, running and maintaining nursery equipment.
- Laboratory Work (25%): washing dishes, preparing research samples, processing samples, data entry, running and maintaining lab equipment.
- Teaching and Extension (25%): assist with activities associated with the preparation of a weed science lab and editing extension publications.
High School diploma/GED; training will be provided on all processes and equipment when necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or CompetenciesIdeal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal and general mechanical aptitude.
Physical DemandsLift 50 pounds and work in inclement weather, as needed (rain, snow, heat, cold, etc.).
