Temporary Lab Assistant - Plant Genetics

Position Summary

This position is needed to assist in the cleaning and processing of seed samples for various crops.

• Clean seed of sorghum, millet, and other crops using seed cleaning equipment (approx. 75% of time).
• Count, weigh, and package seed samples for long term cold storage (approx. 25% of time).

High School Graduate. Experience preferred in seed cleaning using lab equipment such as seed blowers and screens, as well as in counting and weighing seed samples using a lab scale and packaging seed according to seed inventories.

Heavy lifting (50 lbs) and working in hot environments (greenhouse and seed lab) and cold environments (cold rooms and freezers).

Position has security access (e.g., public safety, IT security, personnel records, patient records, or access to chemicals and medications).

Offers of employment are contingent upon completion of a background investigation, including a criminal background check, confirmation of credentials and employment history, and, when applicable, a satisfactory credit check.
