This is an entry-level student research worker position during the summer. The incumbent will aid the Cotton and Vegetable Crops Nematology team on research activities related to plant‑parasitic nematodes of cotton and vegetable crops. Responsibilities include watering greenhouse, extracting nematodes from soil, enumerating nematode eggs, collecting soil samples from the field, mixing soil samples, aiding in harvesting and planting of crops, and cleaning laboratory supplies.

Depending on performance, the incumbent may be given the opportunity to conduct research and present findings at national and international conferences.

• Watering greenhouse, maintaining greenhouse plants and cultures, mixing soil for greenhouse studies, planting and harvesting greenhouse experiments. (25%)
• Collecting soil samples from the field, planting and harvesting crops in the field, and maintaining field trials. (25%)
• Extracting nematodes from soil samples and enumerating nematode egg populations. (35%)
• Cleaning supplies and laboratory. (15%)

• High school diploma.

• Standing, lifting, enduring outside elements for extended periods of time.
• Driving as needed.
