Position Summary
Graduate Research Assistant (Ph.D.) – Dutta
Department: CAES-Plant Pathology. Ph.D. position starting Spring 2021 at the University of Georgia – Tifton campus, set in Coastal Plain Experiment Station. The role involves surveying commercial cole crop fields to assess fungicide resistance among Alternaria species using traditional and molecular methods. The candidate will also study seed infection modes and develop mitigation strategies.
Employment type:
Employee, up to 20 hours per week; schedule determined by supervisor. Advertised salary: $2,150 per month.
- 60% laboratory, greenhouse, and field work to study fungicide resistance of Alternaria species.
- 20% completion of graduate student coursework and credits.
- 20% writing reports and presenting data at symposiums.
- Master’s degree in Plant Pathology (required).
- Experience with mycology and bioinformatics preferred.
Light lifting, standing and/or sitting for extended periods.
