Research Scientist
Position Summary
1) development of training materials for advanced technology training for farmers,
2) developing weeding system using lasers and mechanical weeding and
3) improved post-processing handling of peanuts to reduce aflatoxin contamination.
- 60% of time:
Conduct field and laboratory research on weed management, harvesting cotton, and developing computer algorithms for rover; insect pests of peanut and their relationship with aspergillus mold and aflatoxin. Work with industry partners to assess research needs, develop and implement novel research addressing aflatoxin risk reduction, collect and manage data. - 25%:
Analyze and interpret research results and write manuscripts for publication in peer‑reviewed journals, prepare proposals. - 10%:
Teach labs and develop curriculum. - 5%:
Supervise/coordinate hourly workers and/or graduate students.
PhD required.
Other RequirementsPhysical demands: driving required.
Position is exempt under FLSA and FTE 1.00.
