  • Master’s degree in a related field of science and 5 years of professional experience

Position Summary:

The complex, multidisciplinary project requires a senior research scientist with extensive experience in carbohydrate chemistry and synthetic chemistry. The employee will develop chemical biology tools and strategies to improve fermentation processes, attend meetings, prepare reports, propose new research lines, submit research reports, publications, and patents to the CBI and BioF: GREAT centers, and supervise graduate and undergraduate researchers alongside the PI.

Duties

/ Responsibilities
  • 30% Experimental work in structural analysis of complex carbohydrates from fermentation broths, reductive catalytic fractionation residuals, and glycoenzyme reactions.
  • 30% Experimental work in chemical synthesis of modified carbohydrates and NDP‑sugars for application in chemo‑enzymatic strategies to study glycoenzymes.
  • 20% Write manuscripts, contribute to grant proposals, prepare quarterly and annual reports, attend project meetings.
  • 20% Supervise students and manage lab chemical safety.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and/or Competencies
  • Knowledge of analytical, organic, or biochemical research principles and practices.
  • Skill in carbohydrate analysis, organic chemistry techniques, or related laboratory processes.
  • Ability to contribute to collaborative research efforts and work effectively with internal and external partners.
Physical Demands

Some lifting of lab materials.
