Position Summary

This full‑time Staff position will join the College of Engineering's Business Office as a Grant Accountant. The role supports the organization’s mission by linking core business functions to grant‑funded projects, reviewing grant expenses, interpreting budgets, gathering data, and partnering with faculty, staff, and stakeholders to ensure timely support and compliance.

  • Knowledge of project status reporting
  • Experience with grant financials
Duties and Responsibilities Grant Financial Review & Reconciliation (30%)
  • Review submitted grant expenses and proposals for accuracy, ensuring expenditures align with the organization’s mission.
  • Reconcile grant expenditures against system balances to maintain fiscal integrity.
  • Interpret financial data to identify discrepancies and submit journal corrections.
  • Monitor sub‑award invoices and participant incentive requests to ensure timely support.
Budgetary Interpretation & Project Support (30%)
  • Interpret grant portal budgets, providing technical clarity for faculty and administrators.
  • Review and interpret budget structures for specialized initiatives and grant closeouts.
  • Partner with stakeholders to facilitate grant budget modifications and finalization.
  • Ensure all budgetary work operates under UGA /Grant compliance standards.
Payroll Coordination & Compliance Partnership (30%)
  • Partner with HR and faculty to determine correct funding sources for grant‑funded employees.
  • Review payroll reporting to verify accurate grant expenditures.
  • Guide faculty and PIs on payroll‑related financial inquiries.
  • Track tuition returns with the graduate payroll administrator.
Data Gathering & Strategic Reporting (10%)
  • Gather data for comprehensive reporting to support informed decision‑making.
  • Collaborate with Business Office team members on additional duties contributing to grant success.
