The Northeast Health District is seeking a detail‑oriented, organized, and proactive Bookkeeper to support our financial operations with a focus on budget preparation and tracking.
Position SummaryThe Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing detailed budgets, tracking expenditures, and generating financial reports. The position will be cross‑trained in other bookkeeping functions including cash disbursements and receipts.
As a District Program Bookkeeper within the Northeast Health District at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.
- Prepare and manage program‑specific budgets
- Enter and track expenses and prepare journal entries as necessary
- Monitor spending against approved budgets and report variances
- Prepare budget summaries for program management and work closely with department heads and leadership to provide budget insights and forecasts
- Support audits, grant reporting, and funding documentation
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations
Associate degree in accounting, business/public administration, or finance from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of fiscal analysis job‑related experience; OR four (4) years of fiscal analysis job‑related experience; OR two (2) years of experience at the lower level Budget Analyst 1 (FIP
010) or equivalent position.
